Itinerary / Expectations
A private charter with Sundari Voyages by Archipelago is fully tailored to your group’s preferences, pace, and interests.
Check-in takes place the day before departure and must be completed by 17:00. Boarding begins at 09:30 on the first day of your charter, allowing us to depart and begin your private adventure without delay.
The itinerary is fully customized to your group’s interests, balancing diving, relaxation, and exploration at your preferred pace. Final routing and daily planning will be coordinated closely with our Cruise Director, whose local knowledge and experience ensure we select the safest and most suitable dive sites based on weather, currents, and conditions.
On the final day, we return to Labuan Bajo at approximately 14:00. For safety reasons, guests must schedule onward flights a minimum of 18 hours after their last dive.
Due to the number of dive sites within Komodo National Park and to ensure a safe, well-paced route without unnecessary repetition, private charters can be booked for a maximum of 8 days.
Destination & Season – Komodo National Park
Komodo National Park has two main seasons, but there is truly no bad time to visit. Thanks to the park’s vast size and variety of dive locations, we simply adjust our route throughout the year to make the most of the prevailing conditions.
The weather in the region can be pleasantly unpredictable. Due to the mountains on Flores, Labuan Bajo may experience rainfall while the park itself remains sunny with blue skies. Tropical showers do happen, but they typically pass within an hour or two, clearing into bright, beautiful weather.
April – November (Dry Season)
During the dry season, we explore primarily the Central and Northern regions of the park. Expect warm sunny days around 29°–31°C, cooler evenings near 24°C, calm seas, and water temperatures averaging 26°–27°C. Visibility is generally 15–20 meters, creating excellent conditions for exploring vibrant reefs, dramatic pinnacles, and thriving marine life. This period is considered high season for its stable conditions and comfortable cruising.
December – March (Wet Season / Manta Season)
In the wet season, we focus on the Central and Southern areas of the park. Daytime temperatures range from 29°–35°C with warm evenings around 28°C and occasional rainfall. Upon departure from the harbour, surface conditions may be slightly bumpy for approximately one hour due to exposure to open sea and westerly winds. However, once inside the protected areas of the National Park, conditions become calm and comfortable, particularly aboard Sundari Voyages, a spacious and stable wooden vessel.
A major highlight of this season is access to the southern dive sites, where fewer day-trip boats venture. This means quieter dive sites, more space, exceptional manta encounters, and a wilder side of Komodo. With prevailing westerly winds creating sheltered conditions in the south, visibility often exceeds 20 meters, offering outstanding underwater clarity.

FAQ Private Charter
Can we choose the dive sites we want to explore?
We’ll provide you with the best possible dive area options, whether Central, North, or South Komodo, based on the season and ocean conditions. Since Komodo offers fantastic diving all year round, we know exactly which sites are safest and most suitable during your trip. For safety reasons and to ensure smooth boat operations, you can’t select any dive site arbitrarily.
Even though we can’t promise specific dive sites, we can always promise that you’ll experience the best of Komodo’s underwater life; big schools of reef fish, turtles, beautiful corals, sharks, and diverse topography including sloping reefs, underwater seamount, coral garden, walls, plateau, boulder, swim-through, underwater pinnacle, and overhang. You’ll also get to enjoy drift dives, as Komodo is famous for its currents.
Can the trip be customized for families or groups with mixed divers and non-divers?
Yes, absolutely. We can tailor the trip for families or groups with both divers and non-divers. The maximum capacity is 12 guests, ensuring everyone has a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Are there special dining or event arrangements (e.g., birthdays, anniversaries) for private charters?
Yes, we can organize special dining setups and event arrangements for occasions like birthdays or anniversaries. These can be arranged with an additional cost, depending on your request. Feel free to contact us for more details, and we’ll be happy to help plan something memorable.
Is it possible to collaborate with an expedition leader for a specialized diving focus (e.g., macro, wide-angle, marine life behavior)?
Yes, absolutely. We collaborate with 1–2 special guest professionals who can join your trip, this can be an expedition leader, content creator, or underwater photographer/videographer. They’ll share their knowledge and focus on the type of diving or content creation you’re interested in. Just contact us to check the special guest!
What is the minimum and maximum duration for private charters?
The minimum duration for a private charter is 4 days, and the maximum is 8 days. Since we operate exclusively in Komodo, this range allows us to optimize the itinerary based on available dive sites, the season, and weather conditions.
How many dives per day are possible on a private charter?
We typically offer 3–4 dives per day on a private charter. This includes the option for a night dive when conditions allow, as not all dive sites are suitable for night diving. Our schedule also combines popular land activities—such as Padar, Komodo, and Pink Beach—and is carefully planned based on tides, currents and weather to ensure the best and safest experience.
What land excursions are available during a private trip?
We include Padar Island, Komodo Island, and Pink Beach as part of every private trip, these three iconic stops are guaranteed in your itinerary.
How far in advance should I book a private charter?
We require a 40% deposit at least 3 months in advance to secure your private charter. However, availability can change quickly depending on the season, so we recommend confirming your dates as soon as possible to ensure your preferred schedule is locked in.
